Christmas and New Year's have come and past and I find myself awake contemplating this years holidays.
We spent Christmas this year at my sister's brand new house. It was so nice being in a spacious and clean home.... until we showed up. Leave it to a 2.5 year old to create havock in someone's new house. I'm exagerating a bit here... the toddler was actually pretty well behaved. Yes, she managed the color a 4"x4" area of carpet with markers, but thankfully they were washable. And yes, she tormented the kitties, but they were smart enough to hide.
All in all it was a wonderful Christmas. The toddler got a brand new bike. I can't believe how well she rides it either. Let me mention, that when I say bike, I don't mean a tricycle or a big wheel. The girl got a 12 inch bike with training wheels! As soon as the hubs will upload our home videos to his PC I will have to post a video of it. For now though, you will just have to use your imagination, because I swear she is great at riding the bike.
This year also marked the first time me and the hubs exchanged gifts. We have never been able to afford them before, and still really cant, but he got a bonus right before Christmas so we were able to splurge a little. Thankfully, we put some aside in savings, and have that going now (seriously... finally!).
Now 2007 is gone forever, and 2008 has begun. We rang in the new year with some friends and their kiddos and had a blast to be honest. (Note to self... we need to get together with them more often) We ate snacks, played board games, and at midnight the toddler was still awake, fighing sleep while me and the hubs kissed to ring in yet another new year.
2007 went way to quickly by the way.
My year started with me going back to school. That was a tough transition with an (at the time) 19 month old. The semester flew with me getting a 4.0 in my prerequisite classes, turning 25, and celebrating my baby turning 2 on what must have been the only day in April to drop down to 40 degrees.
Summer was entirely way too rushed. More classes were taken, yet more 4.0's to add to my track. Some how I managed to cram in A&P II, Microbiology, and philosophy into one summer. The hubs quit working at the world's worst job, and started with a new local company that he LOVES. After being on call 24 hrs. a day, working 18 hour days, 7 days a week, we were all ready for him to quit. The toddler became increasingly verbal and continued to blow me away every day.
Fall semester was lazy, yet stressful on my part. While the hubs finally returned back to himself some, I freaked out about applying to nursing school. I only took one class (can you guess what I got... yeah, another 4.0 ;D). The toddler began to learn her numbers and letters now that she had long mastered her colors and shapes.
And now a new year is upon us. The year flew by, and while I feel I did absolutely nothing along the way, I look back on it realizing I actually did alot. Going to school, raising an intelligent and beautiful daughter, growing closer my spouse everyday, and getting accepted into nursing school. What more could a girl ask for?
So I can only hope that 2008 is as good, if not better than 2007 was. The toddler will turn 3 in April, and I will turn another year closer to 30 (sigh....). I suppose this is the time to make those resolutions. At the moment, just keeping my grades high and getting through nursing school are the big ones. On a personal level, I need to lose some of this excess baggage I am carrying around my waist. I'm sure I will think of more resolutions to make/break along the way.
